Removing the LaserJet 4000 Fuser

1. Remove Paper tray and fuser screw covers by pushing in the direction of the arrows

2. Drop down back door and pull extension of door back. With a small screwdriver, push one side inward to clear lock, remove the other side and back door assembly.

3. To remove fuser loosen the two screws and pull fuser straight back.

4. Inspect fuser and gears inside the printer it meshes with.

LaserJet 4000 Series Maintenance Kit Parts

1. Remove paper tray and toner cartridge and gently lay printer on it's side.

4. Replace manual tray pickup roller by pushing down on blue plastic to release it from shaft.

2. Examine "D" Rollers for wear and replace only if necessary. To remove them: hold the shaft they are on push them straight back while pushing on tab of white plastic. To install snap onto shaft.

To Reset the Maintenance Display:

press and hold "item" and "value" buttons while you turn on the printer

3. Replace both pickup rollers for each tray by pinching ends and sliding off shaft. You may need to remove the cover over the roller inside the tray.
